Tools and Process

What tools I use to make the comics:


Paper and Sketchbooks:

Strathmore Bristol- 5×17, 24 sheets, 100 lbs. Smooth finish. As well as

Strathmore 200 Series Sequential Art Bristol Pads-  11×17, 24 sheets.110 lbs. Smooth Finish. For My comic book pages.

Canson Mix Media Sketchbooks –  Canson XL Mix Media Pads 98 lb (160 gsm) paper features heavy sizing, making it excellent for watercolor and acrylics, as well as dry media. The fine tooth paper erases well and blends easily. You can also get these at your local Walmart. for around half the price elsewhere.

To Pencil The Comics-



Staedtler 925 0.5mm/0.7mm –  Mechanical Drafting Pencils.

Staedtler Mars Technico Lead Holder- The Technico Lead Holder is designed for drawing, sketching, and writing. It features a metal clip, a push-button, and a textured grip. Made in Germany.


Pentel Refill Lead 0.5 mm/ 0.7mm – Red and Blue refill Lead. I buy em by the dozen tubes.

Staedtler Leads-  I use blue and red leads as well as the standard Hb. Staedtler Leads can be used on paper and vellum, and it is an indispensible tool for precise drafting, drawing, sketching, and writing.

The superior quality and strength of the specially bonded lead prevents breakage during use and sharpening. All degrees are evenly graded.


Pentel Knead-able Erasers –  Faber-Castell- Knetgummi Art Eraser. Using the colored lead means, I don’t have to erase as much.

What tools I use to FINISH the comics:

The Machines:

HP ENVY15 TouchSmart Notebook– My main workhorse. You can click the link for all the specs.

Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2-  32 gig, WiFi, Black, Andriod 4.4 Kitkat

This is my portable studio I use it to update the Website, sketch Ideas,  writing Scripts and many othe useful tasksas well as a fucntioning entertinment center. Whne I am out and about drawing it holds all my reference material as well. For full specs click the link. And the fantastic S-Pen That has Wacom Digitizer tech in it! Like having a portable mini Cintiq. Like drawing on glass with a pencil!

Graphics Tablets:

Wacom Intuos 4- Small Digital Graphics Tablet. I use when traveling or mobile.

Wacom Intuos 5-  Medium Digital Graphics Tablet. With the help of this fantastic software-


Manga Studio 5 / Manga Studio 4EX-   Drawing / Coloring / Finishing

Adobe Photoshop CS5- For ALL other Graphic Work.

Sketchbook Pro Mobile-  I use this app to color, clean up, when I am working mobile and away from the studio. I use this only with the Samsung Galaxy Note.

The Broadcast:

The Camera mounted above my drawing table is a Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920. It broadcasts in Full HD 1080p video/Widescreen in 720p. The best camera I have ever used for my webcasts.

To broadcast my screen cast, I use Open Broadcaster Software (It is free open source software and is available for Windows and Mac).

With the help of the website I am able to chat with all of you and bring my video right to your computers.
